What is Optimum Nutrition?
Optimum Nutrition aims to improve health through sensible eating, using food as its primary base. Optimum Nutrition is about providing the body cells and tissues with the vitamins and minerals they require to function to their best ability. It is also about minimising the introduction of 'anti-nutrients' (eg. chemicals, synthetic hormones, toxic metals etc.), which may damage and distort them, contributing to poor health and disease.
Have you heard the saying, "We are what we eat"? This is so true. How can we expect our body to perform well, if we don't pay enough attention to what we eat. If we put dirty petrol in our car, we would hardly be surprised if it coughed and spluttered and eventually broke down. The same can happen to us. Food is the body's fuel and it needs to be clean too.
Health conditions which generally respond well to nutritional management, include: fatigue / exhaustion; blood sugar imbalances; food intolerances / allergies; weight reduction; irritable bowel – constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, indigestion, etc.; candida; high cholesterol; and many other conditions.
What happens at a Nutrition Consultation?
Before your first appointment, you will be given a comprehensive questionnaire to fill in and bring to the consultation, regarding your current and past health issues, diet and lifestyle factors.
This will be discussed in detail, in order to gain a detailed case history and help to identify the main factors contributing to any health concerns. These will then be explained and a strategy for improving your health suggested, including clear dietary guidelines, and lifestyle recommendations, all in writing.
Allergy testing is also offered.
