Slippery Elm
Slippery Elm is known to alleviate heartburn by soothing the irritated upper gastrointestinal tract. Lotus Slippery Elm is used as a soothing demulcent to the digestive tract and can be used to reduce the symptoms of both constipation and diarrhoea.
Slippery Elm is also available in both tablet (Thompsons) and capsule (Health and Herbs/ Natures Sunshine) form.
Psyllium
Psyllium stalks contain tiny seeds. Husks cover the seeds, which is the part of the plant that is used in foods. The seed husk contains glycosides and mucilage.
It is an excellent diuretic, an emollient, and is good for cooling. It is used primarily in inflammatory conditions of mucous membrane of gastro intestinal and genitourinary tracts. It is also well known as a laxative.
Psyllium is available in both loose and capsule form. It is also included in the Lifestream bowel biotic products.

Lecithin contains phosphatidylcholine, a rich source of choline in the body. Controlled clinical trials conducted on humans show that choline is one of the best nutrients for the liver, improving liver function and increasing restoration of liver tissue. Lecithin can be used in the treatment of liver damage caused by alcoholism, other toxic chemicals, pharmaceutical drugs and viral infections.
In fact, phosphatidylcholine can help to protect the liver from a wide range of toxic agents. Another phospholipid, phosphatidylserine (PS), is fast becoming known as the ‘remarkable brain cell nutrient’. Controlled clinical trials show that phosphatidylserine is useful for improving memory, learning, concentration and behaviour, including mood swings and coping with stress. PS has also proven helpful in reducing the effects of ageing on the brain.
Lecigran is a premium natural granular soybean lecithin, characterised by its high phosphatide concentration and low moisture content. Lecithin in granule form can be eaten pure or added to cereals, salads and milkshakes. It is ideal for those who cannot swallow capsules.

Made from 100% pure cold pressed flax seed oil, flax original is our most widely used product for topping up Omega-3 levels. It tastes great too.
Flax seed oil is approximately 60% Omega-3 alpha linolenic acid (ALA), and also contains the Omega-6 linoleic acid (LA) and the monounsaturated Omega-9 oleic acid.
Research has shown that the majority of western diets are deficient in the Omega-3 essential fatty acids. While our bodies evolved on a diet with a 1:1 ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6, some researchers have estimated that many people consume more than 20 times as much Omega-6 as Omega-3. Long-term imbalance in fatty acid intake results in symptoms of sub-optimal health.
